Unemployment rate of the youth aged 15-24= 7.34%, of which it was 11.30% for the urban area; 5.74% for the rural area.
Employment rate
Underemployment rate of working-age labor = 1.64%, lower than the rate of 1.89% in 2015 and 2.40% in 2014, of which it was 0.73% for the urban area; 2.10% for the rural area.
The rate of laborers with informal jobs outside of the agricultural, forestry and fishery households= 55.9%, of which 47.0% was in the urban area; 64.1% was in the rural area.

Total government revenues = 943.3 trillion dongs (93% of annual estimate), of which domestic revenues=744.9 trillion dongs (94.9% of annual estimate); collecting from crude oil= 37.7 trillion dongs (69.2%); from export-import balance = 156.2 trillion dongs (90.8%).
Expenditure
Total government expenditures= 1135.5 trillion dongs (89.2% of annual estimate), of which, spending for development investment= 190.5 trillion dongs (74.7% of annual estimate); spending for economic and social development, national defense and security, state management=786 trillion dongs (95.4%); repayment of debts and provision of aids=150.3 trillion dongs (96.9%).

In 2013, the export value of Vietnam reached 132,175 million USD, increasing by 15% in comparision with 2012. Two products exported most in 2013 with 16% and 14%, respectively, of total value were Mobile phones and accessories and Textile and garments. Specially, the former also showed the fastest growth in value at about 70% year on year. By contrast, there was an drop in the value of Gasoline, kerosence; Coal or Coffee (by about 30%). In the first 5 months of 2014, Vietnam exported the amount of 58,508 milion USD, increasing by about 15% in comparision with the same period last year. The most exported goods were as the same as those in 2013. However, Chemicals export value rose at a highest rate (about 76% more than last year).

In 2013, the import value of Vietnam reached 131,312 million USD, increasing by 15% in comparision with 2012. Machinery tools and spare parts and Electronics, computers and accessories were imported most in 2013 with 14% and 13%, respectively, of total value. Besides, Telephones of all kinds and accessories showed the fastest growth in value at about 60% year on year. By contrast, there was an drop in the value of imported motorbike and Means of transport and spare parts (by about 30%). In the first 5 months of 2014, Vietnam imported the amount of 56,859 milion USD, increasing by about 10% in comparision with the same period last year. The biggest amount was still spent for Machinery tools and spare parts and Electronics, computers and accessories. However, seafood and wood and materials imported value rose at a highest rate (about 90%).

Vietnam export value to Japan increased continously from 2009-2013 with CAGR of 21.4%. Import value from Japan increased in three years 2009-2011, however, since 2012, the figure stucked at 11.6 billion USD. Before 2011, the trade balance Vietnam-Japan was deficit but since 2011 the positive numbers has appeared. In 2013, trade balance reached +2. In that year, the major imported goods from Japan were machines, equipment, tools and spares (25.5%). On the other hand, textiles and crude oil accounted for the most in export value.

In 2012, retaill sales of goods and services increased 16% higher than 2011. FDI sectoand private sector with growth of 34% and 20.8% respectively stood out from the others. However, there was a slight decrease (1.2%) in state-owned economy sector. On the other hands, in regards of types of economic activity, all industries grew positively in which tourism throve the most with growth of 28.1%. Despite having less growth (15.2%), commerce still took the largest proportion with 77.1% of total value.

From 2008 to 2012, Vietnam’s monthly average expenditure per capita increased with the CAGR of 19.37%. In 2012, it was 1.6 million dongs (about 77 dollars). By residence, in general, the monthly average expenditure of each person in urban area nearly doubled that in rural area. However, rural area’s figure showed growth at the higher rate in comparison with urban area’s. By region, South east area got the highest monthly average expenditure per capita with 2.1 million dongs (about 103 dollars) but the lowest CAGR of 11.64%. In contrast, Red river delta’s expenditure per capita rose at the CAGR of 23.16% – highest rate among regions.

Currently, General secretary is Mr. Nguyen Phu Trong, president is Mr. Truong Tan Sang, prime minister is Mr. Nguyen Tan Dung and chairman of national assembly is Mr. Nguyen Sinh Hung.
