Coffee Import and Export Situation in Vietnam (2006-2012)

Vietnam exported figure considerably outweighed that of import in both value and volume term. However, Vietnam imported volume in 2012 was approximately 9 times more than that of year 2006, while exported volume’s CARG was just 7.5% between 2006 and 2012. Similarly, imported value growth rate was 2.7 times greater than that of exported value in the same period. Overall, the majority of Vietnam’s coffee trading was not roasted coffee product, accounting for around 90% of the total trades over years.

Export – import between Vietnam and other countries in the first 4 months of 2012

The data below presents trade balance between Vietnam and important countries in the world.  With European countries, export value is much higher than import value (export value takes up 18% of export to all countries  in the world, and that proportion of import is 7.4%). Among those countries, Germany stands out from the others in terms of both export and import.  Vietnam’s export to Germany is more than 1 billion USD, accounting for  22% of total export to European countries. Meanwhile its import is more than 622 million USD, accounting for 25.4% of total import from Europe.
Contrary to Europe, Vietnam import from Asean countries  more than export to them. Though the import value takes up only 20.2%of total import from all countries in the world, it’s about  1.3 times higher than export value. In terms of export, Malaysia stands in the first place with more than 1 billion USD (24% of Asean export value), that in import is 1.7 billion USD from Thailand, accounting for 26% of total Asean import value.
The country that Vietnam export goods to the most is USA. The export value is nearly 5.8 billion USD, accounting for 18% of total export value. Vietnam import goods from China the most compared with all the other countries in the world. The value is 7.8 billion USD, taking up to 24% of total import value of the world.
